Flash Design and Development Shoreline BMX Flash Website

Shoreline BMX Flash Web site

Shoreline BMX is a fictitious BMX Bicycle shop developed for a flash assignment. The aim of the assignment was to have a functioning web site in flash with an animation and some media elements (like audio & video). All content that is not readily accessible at DSL(33400 B/s) was preloaded with a simple preloader.

Spiderman Illustrator Vector Image Spiderman Illustrator Vector Image

Vectorized Spiderman

This was a school assignment based mainly around the Gradient Mesh tool. It was an experiment devised to heighten our abilities to use Illustrator CS3 and work in a vector environment. I chose Spiderman because I thought it would be really challenging image to capture with vector and complete in the time alloted.

3D Modeling and Animation 3D Model Bmx Parts

BMX Parts

A collection of BMX Bike Parts. I am an avid fan of the Sport and the Culture, so as a tribute, I decided to model various parts to great precision and accuracy. The models were built with the concept that they were to look like they were actually fabricated pieces of metals.

About Michael Wilson: Flash Developer - Web Designer - Graphic Designer

Oh, hi there!

Hello, my is Michael Wilson. This is my online portfolio with a small taste of my skillset. Why only a taste? Well, I'm currently a student at NAIT taking Digital & Interactive Media Design, here in sunny Edmonton, Alberta. Unfortunately, I do not have much to show at this juncture of the learning process, however in coming months, I will undertake more projects and be able to showcase them. My aspiration is, when I graduate from this program (Spring 2009), to have the skills and working knowledge needed to attain a job in the industry as a Web and Flash Application Designer.

The current purpose of this website is to showcase my skill set to the industry to try to get a summer job, so that I can gain some experience in the industry, (who wants to be outside during the summer anyway?) That being said, if you are an employer in the Edmonton area looking to fill a summer position, and you enjoy my work (or even hate it), please feel free to send me an e-mail or hate-mail at mikewilson2k5@gmail.com, and I will send you a couple other pieces of work as well as my resume. I will also be looking for full time work in January 2009 as a long-term position, so if that is something you are thinking may be beneficial to you, drop me a line and we'll talk bananas.

My core skills lay in design with a focus on usability, and aesthetics. I enjoy creating unique, content-driven website's, with eye-catching housings. I love learning about usability, psychology and theories in the terms of design. In our modern world with such a massive market, the difference of a great design is someone staying on that website or clicking back, then the content can take over and do what it is intended to. I am learner and a teacher, and that's exactly what this industry entails as prerequisites.

To infinity.. and beyonder!

During the summer and after, I plan to submerge myself into the massive world of Flash Actionscripting, Flex and AIR. I want to be able to create rich environments for users to interact and gather information with. I also plan to look in to Ruby on Rails, and gorge myself with web standards and practices such as DOM, AJAX, XML, and (X)HTML.

But.. why Black and White?

Simple. You're reading this! Many of my peers have gone with flashy and design heavy, so I decided to keep it clean and fresh. I think it provides a simple and memorable experience, that will hopefully bring you back again!
